Description: | This investigation evaluated the behavior of the diesel engine in a Kia Grand Pregio 3.0 L van, 2010, through some tests such as static opacity, dynamic opacity, torque and power in a dynamometer bank and fuel consumption with a simulated cycle. Three fuels (premium diesel, diesel plus Férox and diesel plus Bizol) were used to assess emissions and fuel consumption with a simulated 6.1 km city-highway route, in the city of Quito, 2804 m above sea level. The use of diesel mixtures with solid additive and diesel with liquid additive in dynamic Lug Down tests at 3500 rpm demonstrated: the most liquid additive diesel produces considerable emissions of 245% higher opacity than premium diesel despite this result, it remains within of the opacity parameters of the Ecuadorian norm; In torque and power tests the solid additive at 2150 rpm and at 3480 rpm decreases by 3.21% and 2.02% respectively in relation to premium diesel. The fuel consumption test on a simulated city-highway mixed route shows a fuel saving of 10.37% when applying the liquid additive referring to premium diesel. |
