Description: Occupational segregation by gender has historically been present, men and women are involved in different occupations and are therefore exposed to different risks and forms of illness; while men occupy more senior positions, women are concentrated in jobs marked by greater instability, precarious employment and working conditions, lower wages and poor recognition. All of this is associated with gender inequalities in the health of the working population. Despite the impact on health that these working conditions may be having on men and women, the information is deficient. Therefore, in recent years, several countries have developed and implemented ECCTS, providing transcendental information that does not exist in the region. In view of the latent need for reliable, accessible and comparable information that integrates questions that make it possible to know the gender perspective, the starting point has been taken from the questionnaires of the available ECCTS in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the questionnaires of the VI EWCS and CTESLAC by its Spanish acronym, for the analysis of their content from a gender perspective, in order to propose additional questions in future surveys that allow for a more comprehensive approach to occupational health surveillance and research. To this end, this study is based on a review of the literature and the construction of a theoretical basis in which the analysis framework is based on the consideration of paid work as a source of exposure to risk factors of a different nature, including domestic work, care work xii and its role as a social determinant of health, as well as the incorporation of the gender perspective in occupational epidemiology research. The results obtained reflect the need to unite efforts from the design to the implementation of the questions in future surveys, which will make it possible to know the family characteristics, hours used in domestic work and unpaid care, which will make a great contribution to the integration of the gender perspective and the comparability of the real situation of the working population, allowing the elaboration and implementation of effective public policies in occupational health.
