Description: The welding process that has been used for many years in the assembly of the structures of the bodies of the interprovincial buses is of handcrafted manufacture and in the best of cases it is of technical manufacture with the appropriate elements, the present work will focus on give a guideline of how the correct process should be, when using SMAW and GMAW on an ASTM A36 steel, in such a way that a quality control can be carried out using a WPS and PQR of the process followed by the metalworking bodies. Knowing that the MIG process is used when assembling the structures, it is intended to know if the welded joints are being made in the proper way, if the appropriate base material is being used, as well as the filler material used by the machine, if the welding technician is qualified to perform the work that is being requested, and if the machinery used in the company has the technical characteristics necessary for the requirement to have a welded joint that meets the mechanical properties sought, taking into account that the temperature focus of the GMAW process is lower due to the inert gas used (CO2) and that the thickness of the profiles is 3 mm the thermally affected area will be lower than what would be in an SMAW process and therefore can be assured q for the structure of a bus body to be safe for use on the roads of the country
