Abstract: En los úl􀆟mos años, el Movimiento Moderno a nivel global ha comenzado a mirarse en la perspec􀆟va de su conservación. Existen organizaciones como el Docomomo que se centran en mantener y documentar las obras del Movimiento Moderno, dado que hay una constante desvalo- rización de las mismas. Actualmente, existe una nueva fenomenología de documentar y rehabilitar estas edificaciones debido a sus valores patrimoniales. En 1942, llega a Quito un grupo de cuatro arquitectos recién graduados de Montevideo, Uruguay (Jones Odriozola, Gilberto Ga􀆩o Sobral, Guillermo Bonino y Alfredo Altamirano). Los mismos arquitectos trajeron los principios del Movimiento Moderno para promulgarlos a la arquitectura ecuatoriana. Posteriormente, debido a la crisis en Europa, varios arquitectos migraron a Quito. Fomentando el Movimiento Moderno con mayor fuerza dentro de la ciudad. Algunos de estos arquitectos son: O􀆩o Glass, Carlos Kohn, Oscar Etwanick y Giovanni Rota. Finalmente regresan a Quito dos arquitectos ecuatorianos que fueron a estudiar en E.E.U.U, Sixto Durán Ballén y Jaime Dávalos. Las edificaciones del Movimiento Moderno dentro de Quito, han sido totalmente desvalorizadas. A pesar de la importancia de esa época dentro de nuestra historia, las edificaciones se encuentran en muy mal estado o abandono, en otros se han modificado perdiendo su total esencia y en el peor de los casos se ha llegado a derrumbarse. El obje􀆟vo es realizar una inves􀆟gación que otorgue las bases teóricas para hacer una propuesta de intervención proyectual en la Residencia Estudian􀆟l de la Universidad Central. Se inves􀆟gará todos los parámetros importantes de la edificación para comprender todos sus valores. Después de la inves􀆟gación, se generará una propuesta de rehabilitación arquitectónica para dar realce a este edificio emblemá􀆟co de la ciudad.
Description: In recent years, the Modern Movement on a global level has begun to look at the perspec􀆟ve of its conservation. There are organizations as the Docomomo that focus on maintaining and documenting the works of the Modern Movement, since there is a constant devaluation the same. Currently, there is a new phenomenology to document and rehabilitate these buildings due to their patrimonial values. In 1942, a group of four recently graduated architects arrives in Quito of Montevideo, Uruguay (Jones Odriozola, Gilberto Ga􀆩o Sobral, Guillermo Bonino and Alfredo Altamirano). The same architects brought the principles of the Modern Movement to enact them to architecture Ecuadorian Subsequently, due to the crisis in Europe, several architects migrated To Quito. Despite the importance of that era Within our history, the buildings are in very bad state or abandonment, in others they have been modified losing their total essence and in the worst case it has collapsed. The objective is to carry out an investigation that provides the theoretical basis to make a project intervention proposal in the Residence Study of the Central University. All the important parameters of the building will be investigated for understand all its values. After the investigation, it will be generated a proposal for architectural rehabilitation to enhance this emblematic building of the city.
