Resumen : Los trabajadores de la salud a lo largo de su jornada están expuestos a diferentes riesgos. Este estudio se enfoca en los accidentes in itínere, relacionados sobre todo en el trabajo nocturno y prolongado, así como también al incremento de accidentes de tráfico, sus consecuencias y al problema de salud pública que esto representa. OBJETIVO. Determinar el riesgo de accidentes in itínere en personal que labora un Hospital Básico. MÉTODO. Estudio transversal descriptivo, no experimental. Aplicación de una encuesta a 237 trabajadores sanitarios. RESULTADOS. Se obtuvo un nivel de riesgo elevado en trabajadores en edades entre 25 y 54 años, siendo los hombres más proclives que las mujeres. De forma general el nivel de riesgo está en 47% importante, 43% moderado y 10% alto. DISCUSIÓN Y CONCLUSIONES. Los trabajadores de la salud están sometidos a amplias jornadas de trabajo nocturnas y prolongadas de 24 horas, las cuales pueden generar cansancio y somnolencia que sumado a factores como sexo, edad, condiciones de infraestructura vial y del automotor elevan el riesgo de sufrir accidentes in itínere.
Descripción : Health workers throughout their full working day are exposed to different risks. This study focuses on in-itinere accidents, related especially to night shifts and extended working hours; as well as an increase in traffic accidents, its consequences and the public health problem that this represents. OBJECTIVE. To determine the risk of in itínere accidents in personnel that Works in a Basic Hospital. METHOD. Descriptive cross-sectional study, not experimental. Application of a survey to 237 health workers. RESULTS. A high level of risk was obtained in workers between the ages of 25 and 54, with men being more prone than women. In general, the risk level is important in 47%, moderate 43% and high 10%. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. Health workers are subject to night extended working shifts of 24 hours, which can generate fatigue and drowsiness that added to factors such as sex, age, road and automovile conditions raise the risk of in itínere accidents.
