Description: The purpose of this project is to prepare an environmental management proposal through the Demographic Pressure Assessment, due to the environmental risk factor of this pressure increased by the tourism activities in the Moraspungo Recreation Area Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve. The main problem is the increase in the flow of visitors, the RGP is among the 6 most visited protected areas of Ecuador (SNAP, 2017). To meet the demand of this large flow of visitors, the Ministry of the Environment has built a tourism and administrative infrastructure in the Ventanillas Viewpoint, La Caldera del Pululahua and the Moraspungo sector. The buildings of Moraspungo do not have a study of the demographic pressure increased by tourism activities, that is why it is important to research into the identification and assessment of environmental and social impacts generated by tourism activities (Ministry of the Environment, 2012). This document is properly structured in stages: In the first one, the demographic situational diagnosis of the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve will be carried out, through a review of the visitors reports and their annual increments, based on the Environmental Management Plan of the RGP and the total number of consolidated visits from 2014 to 2017 that are in the National System of Protected Areas of Ecuador (Ministry of the Environment, 2012). In the second stage the characterization of Environmental Impacts was carried out, product of the demographic pressure by tourist activities. Environmental records and Leopold matrices were used to determine the possible impacts generated in the RGP reserve, and by means of the Integrated Indicators in Environmental Pressure Indices methodology. generates the demographic pressure index. Finally, based on the situational diagnosis in the Moraspungo RGP Recreation Area and the characterization of the environmental impacts produced, as well as the calculation of the index by demographic pressure and IPA environmental pressure index, due to tourism activities it was found that the most representative for tourist activities in the place are: Generation of liquid discharges, garbage accumulation, deterioration in the infrastructure (trails, cabins, camping, signage), in addition in the landscape natural alteration of the environment, in the flora loss vegetal coverage, modification of the habitat and wildlife species migration, so a proposal of good environmental practices for prevention, mitigation and compensation was generated, according to the needs of the study area, which can be replicated for other areas of equal service activity . Key words: demography, environmental impact, tourism, conservation of resources, biodiversity, environmental risk assessment, local recreation.
