Description: The cartography of the years 1990 to 2016 provided by Ministerio del Ambiente of Ecuador, shows that the vegetal coverage and land use of the Capucuy river Basin located in the Province of Sucumbíos in the Shushufindi canton, with an approximate area of 14,500 ha has undergone changes throughout this time due to the different anthropic activities. The forest area of the Basin has decreased in 87.68 % to 62.81 % of the total area, agricultural land has increased its area from 10.15% to 33.92 %. While the anthropic zone in the year 2000 occupies an area of 0.20 % and in 2016 the 1.10 %. In those referring to the bodies of water, there has not been a significant change. However, at present there is no methodology to determine future changes in land use and vegetation cover of the Capucuy river Basin. The objective of this research was to build a simulation model of land use change and coverage of the Capucuy River Basin in 2026 through the use of historical cartographic information with the help of the DYNAMIC EGO program to quantify possible anthropic effects in the future. The validation of the model showed that the simulation with the maps of 2008 and 2016 allows us to obtain a simulated map of 2026 with an error of less than 5%, presenting the most significant error in the anthropic area with 3.18% . It is expected that by 2026 the forest, the body of water, the agricultural land and the anthropic zone occupy 56.83%, 2.14%, 40.09 % y 1.34 %of the total area of the Capucuy River Basin, respectively.
