Description: Select the best material using the Multicriteria decision making methodology (MCDM), obtaining the best results with the respective choice of material, achieving a safety factor that protects against bending fatigue faults and is within the allowed para meters applied to a gearbox. For which multicriteria decision-making methods were carried out to obtain an order or ranking of the set of alternatives. To obtain this ranking, the set of alternatives must be well defined, just as the criteria must be well determined. After using the multi - criteria, it was determined that the best material option according to the ranking is the AISI 4140, which has relevant characteristics such as elastic limit, tensile strength and good thermalcapacity. To corroborate the selected material, simulations were carried out with this alternative. The ANSYS software allowed specific boundary conditions to be placed, such as the load and working temperature to which the gears are subject. The result of the simulation was validated by the maximum bending stress of Von Mises equal to 9280psi and the safety factor equal to 1.27. The method applied to the weights helps avoid the subjectivity of the designer and make it conform to real parameters. Based on the numerical results, it can be concluded that the proposed methods can deal with the problems of material selection with the dependence of criteria
