Centro cultural para niños de educación básica (4-8 años) en Quitumbe

Abstract

Un centro cultural depende del lugar donde se sitúa, al igual que a la parte de la población a quien se dirige. En este caso el edificio pretende orientarse hacia la población más grande y con más oportunidad de aceptar algo nuevo ya que no existe prácticamente ningún tipo de difusión cultural dentro de la ciudad. Es por esto que la intención de este edificio es direccionarse hacia los jóvenes proponiendo espacios donde ellos puedan desarrollarse en los diversos aspectos culturales afines a sus intereses que son constantemente cambiantes al igual que sus necesidades. Lo que se pretende es un espacio abierto, donde los jóvenes puedan no solo aprender, mirar, exponer y mantenerse al día con la cultura mundial, sino también proporcionarles un lugar del que puedan apropiarse, en el que puedan divertirse y ser libres. Para esto el proyecto debe tener la posibilidad de adaptarse al constante cambio que sufre el mundo, la gente y la cultura. Los espacios dentro de este centro cultural deben ser útiles, mas no funcionales ya que al ser susceptibles al cambio deberán tener la capacidad de adaptarse a exigencias y necesidades futuras, por lo que no pueden estar atados a una simple función. La “recuperación” de la tipología de patio central no se da simplemente porque es efectiva para el desarrollo de un edificio institucional y público, sino también por su significado histórico y cultural. La idea principal es retomar, reinterpretar y aplicar algo que viene funcionando desde hace más de 400 años en la ciudad de Quito y ubicarlo en el centro norte de la capital. Actuando en contraposición de un sinnúmero de edificios “objeto” que pretenden sobresalir por si solos, sin respetar ningún tipo de orden, materialidad o forma, ya sea por su uso o ubicación dentro de lo que debería ser un conjunto (ciudad). Edificios que rechazan todo lo existente y pretenden imponerse individualmente imitando la arquitectura de “moda” (por darle un nombre a las tendencias arquitectónicas actuales). Se pretende de alguna manera revalorizar los aspectos importantes de la arquitectura, ya que durante los últimos años lo que ha empezado a prevalecer es la imagen exterior que aunque sin lugar a dudas es muy importante, no es lo primordial y no puede ser el factor determinante en el diseño arquitectónico, ya que la arquitectura no es solo para mirarla sino para vivirla.

The spaces within this cultural center must be useful, but not functional, since being susceptible to change must have the capacity to adapt to future demands and needs, so they can not be tied to a simple function. The "recovery" of the central patio typology does not occur simply because it is effective for the development of an institutional and public building, but also because of its historical and cultural significance. The main idea is to retake, reinterpret and apply something that has been operating for more than 400 years in the city of Quito and located in the northern center of the capital. Acting in opposition to a number of "object" buildings that pretend to excel by themselves, without respecting any type of order, materiality or form, either by its use or location within what should be a set (city). Buildings that reject everything that exists and pretend to impose individually imitating the architecture of "fashion" (to give a name to current architectural trends). It is intended in some way to revalue the important aspects of architecture, since in recent years what has begun to prevail is the external image that although undoubtedly is very important, is not the primary and can not be the determining factor in the architectural design, since the architecture is not only to look at it but to live it.
