Description: “The horse as a social agent for children with Down Syndrome”. The purpose of my thesis is to link Hippotherapy, which is threrapy used with horses for children with Down Syndrome, its results, and what role communications plays in all of the therapy. Being this the main point on this thesis, I found out that Communications is a basic part of this investigation. Children recuperated with the horses on a physical level due to its tridimensional movement, being this the same as human movement , as well as on an emotional level, this is where non verbal communication, affective communication, signs, body language, senses, etc, come into play. The communicator is a person who integrates, aside from all of the other professionals needed. In Hippotherapy, the communicator has to keep in mind an integral manage of models, starting with the patient, including communicational treatments, patient’s culture, family, environment, beliefs, intuitive capacity, form of visualizing or how he or she perceives the world. On the other hand , the communicator has to keep in mind the horse’s temperament, stress levels, and its attitudes towards the patient. The communicator is part of the process, not an observer anymore.
