dc.descriptionThe present investigation studied the possible relationship between the level of stress and coping strategies used by parents, mothers or people who are in charge of individuals who have intellectual disabilities, considering the socio-demographic variables (age of people with / without disability intellectual, gender and socio-economic status of the caregiver). The information was collected with a sample of 60 caregivers (30 of them had children with intellectual disabilities and 30 without intellectual disabilities). The instruments used were: "The questionnaire of resources and stress for families with a chronic disease or members with disabilities" (QRS) and the scale "The coping health Inventory for parents" (CHIP). These tests were administered in person and individually prior to the authorization of voluntary participation through an informed consent. The results indicated that coping responses were associated with stress levels. It was also observed that variations in stress levels and coping responses were related to: the informant's gender, socio-economic status, and type of disability reported-
dc.description.abstractLa presente investigación estudió la posible relación entre el nivel de estrés y las estrategias de afrontamiento utilizadas por padres, madres o personas que se encuentran a cargo de individuos que tienen discapacidad intelectual, considerando las variables socio demográficas (edad de la personas con / sin discapacidad intelectual, género y estatus socio económico del cuidador). Se recolectó la información con una muestra de 60 cuidadores (30 de ellos tenían hijos con discapacidad intelectual y 30 sin discapacidad intelectual). Los instrumentos utilizados fueron: “El cuestionario de recursos y estrés para familias con una enfermedad crónica o miembros con discapacidad” (QRS) y la escala “The coping health Inventory for parents” (CHIP). Estos tests fueron administrados de manera presencial e individual previa a la autorización de la participación voluntaria por medio de un consentimiento informado. Los resultados indicaron que las respuestas de afrontamiento estuvieron asociadas a los niveles de estrés. Asimismo se observó que variaciones en niveles de estrés y respuestas de afrontamiento estaban relacionadas con: género del informante, estatus socio económico, y tipo de discapacidad reportadaes_ES
