A day of life is a day less of existence Since man has been, the thought of death was always present. But, what is death? Is death the end of everything? Or rather the start of something ?. These are the most frequent questions that the human being is asked, whatever the response, presence and absence will always be intrinsically linked in the thought of man. In this way, the cemetery is the spiritual encounter of man with his history. It is the connecting link of life and death. This last residence becomes an indispensable object, both for the living and for the dead. Not only as a utilitarian place but also as that space able to evoke and perpetuate the deepest feelings of being; which allows honor and strengthen memory, the memory that over time becomes custom, that semantic estrangement where the symbolic ceases to be. In this work it is tried to approach from all the scopes the sensory character both transmitter and receiver of space, highlighting the connection between the life and death. See the end of life not as an end, but as the beginning of a new life, evading one of the most hidden feelings in man: fear of dying, fear of what unknown, the fear of beginning or ending, the fear of ceasing to be or having. It starts from a profuse investigation of the typology, and through this The demand for cemeteries in the city of Quito is determined. Before starting to look for the land and undertake the design, it is considered primordial the analysis of referents, which are going to be an important theoretical-conceptual support for the development of the project. Then the place for the implementation of the architectural object is studied, it is analyzed the land with its natural and urban environment, thus abstracting the greater amount of elements necessary for the site. When the project is developed, the conceptual model is developed, which is the basis for the design. Through this, a generic model is also elaborated in which the concept, acquiring architectural features. Finally, the architectural proposal is made, the generic is architecturized through the programming previously elaborated. A cemetery is an urban-landscape typology, so it accommodates the design of landscape. A design is proposed that is consistent with the project, that is, that follow the same way of ordering it. In addition, an investigation is carried out on the type of vegetation to be used,
