Abstract: Las condiciones laborales han experimentado una transformación importante en las últimas décadas. Así las nuevas exigencias del trabajo y el desajuste entre los requisitos del puesto de trabajo en las organizaciones, han puesto en manifiesto la aparición de nuevos riesgos denominados psicosociales que impactan no solo en la salud física sino también la salud mental de los trabajadores, derivándose en el conocido Síndrome de Burnout. La presente investigación tuvo como propósito determinar los factores de riesgo psicosocial relacionados con la aparición del Síndrome de Burnout en los paramédicos del Cuerpo de Bomberos de las estaciones del Norte de Quito. Se trató de un estudio de carácter descriptivo, correlacional y transversal. Se encuestaron 30 paramédicos con la aplicación de dos métodos: El cuestionario ISTAS 21 para evaluar los factores de riesgo psicosocial y la escala de Maslach Burnout Inventory para determinar la presencia de Burnout. Los resultados obtenidos fueron los siguientes: 1) Los factores de riesgo psicosocial asociados a a las dimensiones del Burnout fueron: las demandas psicológicas al agotamiento emocional y el apoyo social y calidad de liderazgo a la realización personal 2) Los resultados obtenidos con el cuestionario ISTAS 21 revelaron que los factores psicosociales negativos considerados como riesgos para el trabajo de los paramédicos son las demandas psicológicas, estima e inestabilidad en el empleo. 3) Los resultados de la evaluación del MBI sugirieron que el 23% de los paramédicos están afectados por niveles altos del Síndrome de Burnout.
Description: Working conditions have undergone a major transformation in recent decades. So, the new demands of work, and the discordance between the job requirements in organizations, have shown the appearing of new risks called psychosocial risks, which affect not only physical health, it also affects physicological health, resulting at the "Burnout Syndrome". The purpose of this investigation was to determine the psychosocial risk factors related to the appearance of the "Burnout Syndrome" on paramedics of the Fire stations, in the North of Quito city. The type of the present investigation was descriptive, correlational, and cross. 30 surveys were applied to paramedics with the aplication of two methods: The Questionnaire for Psychosocial Risk assment at Work ISTAS 21 designed to identify and mesasure exposure to six major groups of health risk factors of psychosocial nature at work and scale of "Maslach Burnout Inventory" to determine the presence of "Burnout". The following results were obtained: 1) The psychosocial factors related to burnout dimensions are psychological demands with emotional exhaustion and social support and leadership quality with personal accomplishment. 2) The data obtained with the Questionnaire ISTAS 21 revealed that the psychosocial negative factors found in the paramedic as risk for their work were psychological demands, recognition and reward and job instability. 3) The MBI evaluation results suggest that 23% of paramedics are affected with a high level of Burnout
